To me,nature is the basis where the language built on.I mean there is a device promoted to brain prior to birth as it's academically called LAD (language aqquisition device). The baby borns with the ability of getting and sensing at least one language which is his native. Then starts the effect of nurture that keeps a continuous improvement or dissatisfaction on language. If you have a environment including nothing to interact,it will be hard to ipmrove the lingual sides. On the other hand a poly-populated nurture may let your language get broaden...To sum up,I think natural aspect of language expresses ^^WHAT^^ makes it possible to learn while the nurture draws the language's border or style namely ^^HOW^^...

the nature and environment effect the language from birth because when a baby born he or she recieves the languge according to his or her nature/enviroment all the time. At the same time nature and environment where you live build your words. For example as you now we have less vocabulary about snow than northest countries.
A child acquires his family's language. He makes it unconsciously so this shows that the enviroment shapes the language. If a child isn't exposed to the language he can't speak. Children start speaking by imitating so if the environment doesn't give any stimulus to the child he can't learn how to speak.
The environment must help a child's learning process by ' social interaction '. A child's first environment is his family so the family has a very important role. They must support the child by words and body language when their child tries to speak.
Beside the environment , the nature shapes the language too.A child takes his hereditary features and genes from his family that helps him to speak. I think a child is not empty handed when he is born. We can talk about 'Language Faculty ' here. A child has mechanism when he is born then the environment improves this mechanism.
According to Chomsky, there are only 6 different syntax and a child has the conscious of these when he is born, he only chooses according to his environment .
All these show how both nature and environment have important effects on language.
ın language learning we don't say that only nature has important role or nurture. From ancient times people speak at first it may be like cry, bellow but it is developed day by day,so people have devices for language learning in teir mind when they are born. After that the enviroment effect which languages are learned for example if I was born in a different country I learned different language, beacause my social interaction was different. At conclusion both of them effect the language learning
How do the nature and the environment shape the language?
To me, language learning is %70 depends on NURTURE. Everybody has enough capacity to learn capacity. However, people’s environment affects their language learning very much. For example, students who grow in the eastern part of Turkey do not speak English as better as the students in western part. I think the reasons of this are environment, opportunity.
Second point of environment is family. If you compare child of educated and uneducated family you can easily realise the difference.

Nurture and nature
I believe that language is shaped by environment. At the same time I think that language is innate, too.
I can’t prefer one of them towards the other. We can’t say only one cause and only one effect in this event. In this event there isn’t only one true. If we mention a certain true we only deceive ourselves.
But actually language is a developmental process that contains all of them. When children were born they come with language learning capacity and meshanism. This mechanism / capaticy gives an opportunity to progress language. To me, this helping is very limited. I think the most important helping comes from our environment.
When children were born if there aren’t people around them they don’t learn language (speaking). They don’t learn it even if other people try to teach speaking. In that case environment has more important influence in leaning language than the nature has. For example, a few years ago there was a film that was called: Neil. In this film there was a girl that lived alone for most of her life. And she didn’t know speaking. Later when some people tried to teach language and sociel life she didn’t adjust to her new ways of life.
On the other hand when we look at the process of language acquisition we see that people don’t notice the language acquisition beginning of their life. Language acquisition is gained by intevention of other people. For example in a family while a child is growing, mother and father always talk their children. When the children ask “What is this? What is that?” they teach every word very patiently and say every word repeatedly untill the child learns. So I think that language is learned like other behaviours with helping of environment.
At the same time if we ask this question “Why does the child have language of their family?” we find the same answer: Because language is shaped by the environment. However first environment of the child is his/her family.
When we examine the language acquisition process, we see that language is learned from concrete to abstract like thoughts. Firstly children say real objects after as they are growing they understand the context. So perspectives of their languages change.

In language laerning we are effected both nurture and the enviroment this to main points in able to poeple to speak. if there was no tendencyin human being with his phsycological development mankind is the unique creature in telling his ideas by word, sentence... but we can never say the true things about language acquisition by giving no importance to the enviroment. because of his being a social creature human being is also effected the enviroment in which he lives so we can surely say taht enviroment has a big but, not bigger than the nurture, effect on language
I think nature isn't as effective as nurture in language acquisition/learning.
We,as humanbeing, are born with the ability to speak(LAD).But we cannot do this without nurture.Consider the ones who hear no word when they're baby.(for ex.Genie)They won't be able to speak even if they have the ability.I mean babies have limited time to hear the language and start to imitate that. This time is called "critical period"
On the other hand, nature affects our accent, style, dialect.it shapes our way of producing sounds.Another effect of nature is on whether we've normal or subnormal intelligence.Anyone idiot may not be able to speak.
Finally I think that nurture is much more important than nature in language learning.
To me;environment has undenial role in acquiring a language. In order to learn or acquire a language(native or second) people need interaction with environment. We all have potential of learning a language from birth. Then with the help of the society,we live in,we shape it. Moreover, our environment produces our words. For example,an Indian uses twenty seven different words in order to define RED. For another example, germain culture pay attention to the sex of the people,so they use ER,SIE,ES to define third singular person, however we have just one word O for defining it.
fatih ışık said that; Language is developmental progress and when humans are learning language, it is inevitable that they are exposed to the effects of nature and environment on this progress. When the child is borned,he/she imitates the speeches of his families and he tries to speak and to produce sounds like them.İmitating exists human nature. We know that it is different from the real nature like the things we see around us,but we can say that human nature and environment shape child's language together. They are related to each other.Besides, the language they speak is determined where they live and which languge his family speaks. In addition to this I want to talk about the birth of languge for we understand the nature effects on language. One theory the people were affected sounds in environment and they tried to imitate these sounds,so they began to speak as they used these sounds.Another theory said that people are affected by animals,so they tried to imitate
them for comminacating, too. We can say that imitating is significant for language and the things for imitating exist in nature and environment. But we also know that all sounds don't created by imitating. When you think that every country has different sound and languge structures, you can see that clearly. For example;we pronounce in Turkish 'at' but in english it is pronounced as 'horse'.Even if the concept is same, the sound of it changes from language to language.
Nature and environment shape the language by means of power.Nature and environment are power elements and they play a major role in influencing people's opinion.People decide to how they live or how they use which words according to the nature and environment.F.E in England everybody knows that there are too much rain in almost each period of a year, that is why this situation which comes from nature's and environment's power reflects language. In english language there is too much words which is about rain.On the contrary in an African country we can't find too much words about rain becaus rain isn't a part of their nature, environment.Nature and environment effects people's life, thought, food which they eat, tools which they use.If something has a great power on people's life,it is normal to effects language, also.
NATURE & NURTURE
To me, nature is important for learning a language, but nurture is most effective.
A child bring something when s/he born, genetic factors(genetic illnesses,capasity...), intelligence... etc. So they effect children when they learn L1(or L2), because some children can speak earlier than the others. Of course the environmental factors effect them, but if ther is a genetic problem s/he cannot learn the language easily. Also somebody learns language easily and we say, they have a big language capasity/language intelligence, so they are successful in learning language.
On the other hand, nurture is most effective, because language is a social event. If there is not anybody you don't speak, for speaking, at least there should be two people, so people effect people, and their language. Because we use language for communication.
Although somebody cannot learn a language easily, if there is a suitable situation for learning language s/he can learn it.Possibly s/he has got some problems/difficulties, but in my opinion if we use a suitable strategist/method/technology everybody can learn language.Actually if you study on it, your capasity, abibility can be improve.May be there are some kind of difficulties, but anything is not impossible! When we will be teachers, we will have some different students, but if we can use suitable method/strategist they can be successful. For example, some students who are visual, they can learn easily if they see something(picture,poster,cartoon...)and some ss are audiol, and if they listen they can learn easily, and some ss are kinestetic ,so you should use body-language.Now, we don't know why are they different, but they are, so it is about their nature, but if there is not a suitable situation according to their features, and if they cannot learn the language it is not natural, it is a fault.
Briefly, natural features are really important, but they are not fate, they are not barriers environment, technology... etc can help them.If a child born in a suitable situation s/he can be grow with many adventages, and if a child has not got a suitable environment, normally s/he cannot know something. So I want to say : if you don't study, you cannot win!
Of course the features people have have great effect on speaking.
We shouldn't expect a mentally defected person to speak like a lecturer.
To me if we don't consider those, the reality of language is the nurture. That means we can speak to or understand the people from our neighbourhood or class better.Any student has a gret capasity of slang until they come to university and change their envirement. That doesn't mean that they will change wholely because they have had a big nurture that has made them have that vocabulary. But whenever they chage the neighbourhood that limits them speak that vocabualary. And after the long time of the next environment they can notice that their language and way of speaking mostly changed...
I think both nature and nurture effect the language acquisition. Of course human beings need some abilities to speak called "Language Acquisition Devices" but we know that child acquires his mother tongue with "repetition" and "imitation" of the sounds heard. If the nature was more effective than environment in shaping a language we could all speak same language when we were child. There are lots of different languages on the world. Also it is possible to see differences in Turkish (for ex:differences between the languages used in Trabzon and Tokat).
In conclusion nature and environment effect the language Without genetik abilities and environment acquiring a language is impossible.

ln language formation process it's hardly to reject effect of human' faculty,in other words nature. For example, when two babies'beginning of process of speaking,in same country and same age, analysised,it was seen a baby began to speak after other baby or before.therefore this concrete example show us importance of nature. But nurture together with nature is important.Even to me in process of language progres, nurture is more important than nature. In reality ,nurture give shape to language.First child's parent is effective then friends, school, teacher and others people. And we can have an idea in environmet he/she grows up after speaking together
Human beings have an innate language faculty(Language Acquisition Device). This faculty enables language acquisition.Because of this faculty, they are pre-programmed language acquisition.Children don't learn the sounds, words and sentences by rote. They are exposed language and in time they can create new sentences acording to their needs.Acording Chomsky,we have universal grammar. There are six different syntax:SVO,SOV,OSV,OVS,VOS and VSO. When babies was born, they are exposed to a language which includues one type of syntax above.Parents have an important role here.Speaking to the child, using body language and playing with him/her is very effective in child's speeech. If parents don't speak to their child during a period of time when s/he was born, then it will be difficult to be able to speak in future.
Firstly, babies acquire imperatives, simple sentences and chunks to speak. So while we are teaching foreign language, first we can start with chunks.Acquiring grammar rules of foreign language, making trasfer errors and over genarilizations are mental process in SLA.
The environment also shape your SLA.If you live in Turkey and you've never heard about "th" sound in English, then it will be difficult to pronounce this sound. Also the historical facts affect SLA.If you are unwillig to adapt to the culture of one country, then it will be difficult to learn that language.
The social groups or environment that we are in shape both L1 and L2.If a child interact with uneducated people who generally use slangs in speech, his language cannot improve. But being in formal and informal relatinships, having relations with people in different statutes and having different context in different fields can facilitate improving your language. Then it is possible to become proficient in your language.
Social environment also affects SLA. When you go to England to work in a cafe, you need to learn English just to be able to understand people and to interact with them. There is no need to be proficient in English. But if you are a businessman and need to be interact with other businessmen in other coutries, you need to be proficient in English not only in speaking also in academic writing.
As we all agree, language is something that we learn or acquire by time. On purpose or not, we begin to make some meaningfull sounds letting us to communicate with each other. These sounds may differ according to the pecularities of the nations, also relating to the physical and regional conditions. I think this truth is proof of unique effect of environment on language considering the unability of people living in deserted areas for long times such as an island or mountain away from community life. On the other it will be a terrible mistake to ignore the device dealing with language functions in brain. Scientific researches explain the development of people as keeping up with the nature and overcoming the difficulties that make life harsh. Therefore, how would it be wrong to accept all these initial effects forming the device in brain called L.A.D as the results of environment? I think all we have is our gains acquired later.
In my opinion, nature and environment are two elements which shape language together. But environment has a dominant role within the business.I think people are born with a device inside their brain that make them learn not only the language but also everything. Then the environment help them use that device and get the knowledge of the world. When we come to language, it is the same.We have a language acquisition device which comes from the birth. After we are born we are exposed to the environmental sequences(such as family, school, etc.)and these sequences direct us to acquire the language. From now on,nature loses the control on our acquisition. It has no effect on our language acquisition.
The language is not something just related with nature or nurture,on the contrary it is something connected with both nature and nurture.Everybody borns with an ability of getting a language, but this ability doesn't make any sense if there is no environment conditions that afeects the person to make progress.
First, baby hears the sounds of language, imitates and in time it owns the language, adds it new things(words, structures, etc.) as lego blocks. This environment contains the mum and dad at the beginning then social life and school the child takes place in comes into the stage,he/she collects every little piece as a magnet and give a shape his/her language unconciously.
Briefly,if you see language as a cake;nature is your ingredents but without any bakery(nurture),you can't cook it.
People born in a society and takes a form according to this society's need and culture.A society's culture is specified according to the living conditions of this area and this conditions basicly depends on the nature, climate.Because of language's being an element of culture,it is also effects from the nature and environment. For exampla,a language used in a society who farming for living, has more words about agriculture than the other languages. While people's body's shape according to the nature of area,it's not interesting for the language to shape according to nature

To me,environment effects people acquiring a language. It is more dominant than nurture, because people acquire a language by imatating the people who are around them. For example, think about two brother who are from Rize if one of them lives in Rize and the other one lives in İstanbul when they grow up the one who live in İstanbul will talk Türkısh better than the other one. This proofs that nature is more effective than nurture while acquiring a language.Because they have same nurture but only their nature is different and this difference make their languaga different.
I think the nature and the environment has a big effect on language.A baby learns to speak by listening speechs of the people around.He/she starts to speak like his parents.Accents differ from one area to another. The culture, nature and characteristic of the area effects on the accent. This shows the fact that nature and environment is effective on the language.
According to Chomsky the baby brings an ability from the birth to acquire the language. Chomsky claims that there is a device in the brain of baby that provides language acquisition. I think that the environment is also important as well as the language acquisition device because this device does not work if there is no input to trigger it. The other reason why the environment is important is babies learn by imitating sounds of people who are in the family so we can say that both nature and nurture is important in language acquisition.
At first sight language seems directly related with human, not any other factor. The relationship between language and nature just consists of yansıma kuramı which is one of the language acquisition theories. however that theory is not able to explain the extraordinary language development of humankind alone itself. Incapability of this theory led to rising of a lot of logical and scientific theories and approaches about language development. That relationship between language and nature may be regarded as poor or perhaps irrelevant because of the other theories and approaches' sufficiency to explain it in detailed and scientific way. Anyway consciousness is an image of the environmental reality on people. Sometimes our feelings are waved and shaped evitably deliberately because of the weather. In my opinion We sense the fiction and use our language totally effected with it.That does works..

I think language is a tool that is given human naturally and it can be shaped by the culture and the other things.
A baby borns with the ability of learning acquisition and this ability is affected by nature and get improvement.Certainly nature is a part of learning language. It is important that there should be many interact so that a language learning can be done easily. The nature shapes the language from many sides.Besides environment, family is an important part while learning a language.3231050053 Zeynep Gökoglan
in my opinion nature is on nature is one of the pillars of the facts that effects language aqquisition. so is it possible to try to understand the way how we aquire the language by means of only nature? i do not think so. because a human brain looks at the nature how it wants to see it. so what do i mean? i mean as the brain works from the beginning of the first cell of the human being, the thougts has been existed as the cause of the works of the brain. then the things that we live shapes these thoughts which develops the language we use. 3231040098
